Baldur Burwitz (Germany)

Born in 1971, Baldur Burwitz is a German conceptual artist who lives and works in Hamburg and Berlin. He studied at the Braunschweig University of Art, earning a Master of Fine Arts in 2004 under Professors Raimund Kummer and Bogomir Ecker. Working across installation, performance, sculpture, and site-specific interventions, Burwitz creates humorous yet critical works that examine the intersections of society, politics, ecology, and contemporary culture. His practice is driven by ideas rather than medium, embracing any form that best communicates the concept.

Burwitz has received numerous international scholarships and residencies, including grants from Stiftung Kunstfonds, Hollufgård Artist Residence (Denmark), Quartierskünstler Veddel, and the Nanji Art Studio Residency in Seoul. His work has been exhibited widely at institutions such as ZKM Karlsruhe, MARTa Herford, Kunsthalle Osnabrück, Hamburger Kunstverein, the National Gallery in Prague, Gyeongnam Art Museum in South Korea, and venues across Europe, Asia, and South America. Alongside his artistic practice, he has served as a visiting professor at Hongik University and Gachon University in South Korea. His current long-term project, In Eighteen Around the World, investigates climate change, ecological crises, and social transformation through site-specific artistic interventions that encourage critical reflection and global responsibility.

Jonathan Armour (UK)

Jonathan Armour is a London-based contemporary artist whose interdisciplinary practice explores the intersections of digital media, virtual reality, animation, installation, and performance. He holds an MA in Fine Art from the City and Guilds School of Art, London, following a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design from City Lit College and an earlier degree in Engineering from the University of Bath.

Armour has received numerous international recognitions, including the Schauerman Digital Art Prize at The London Group Open (2023), the NTU x Vieunite Art Prize (2022), and Second Prize at the New York Centre for Photographic Arts (2022). His work has also been selected for the Ars Electronica Animation Festival (2023).

His artistic practice has been developed through international residencies in Thailand and Norway, and his works have been exhibited widely in the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Thailand, and the United States. Through immersive technologies and experimental visual languages, Armour investigates perception, identity, and the evolving relationship between human experience and digital environments.

Gökçen Dilek Acay (Turkiye / Germany based)

Gökçen Dilek Acay (b. 1983, Istanbul, Türkiye) is a Berlin-based interdisciplinary artist working across installation, sculpture, drawing, video, sound, and performance. With a background in classical violin, she studied Music at Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul, participated in exchange programs at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Germany and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in the USA, and completed her MFA in Fine Arts and Media Art at Bauhaus University Weimar.

Acay’s practice explores the complex relationships between humans, nature, memory, and technology, often examining ecological and social transformations through poetic and research-driven approaches. Her work has been supported by prestigious grants, including the SAHA Foundation International Project Grant, the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Thuringia, the IFA Artists’ Contact Grant, and the Baldreit Scholarship.

She has presented solo exhibitions in Germany and Japan and participated in numerous international group exhibitions across Germany, South Korea, Japan, and Türkiye. Through multidisciplinary experimentation, Acay creates immersive works that invite reflection on coexistence, environmental awareness, and contemporary cultural narratives.

Deniz Yurtbay (Turkey / Spain)

Deniz Yurtbay (b. 1985, Istanbul) is a Turkish-Spanish self-taught visual artist whose practice examines identity, gender, migration, and cultural traditions through painting and mixed media. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences, folklore, proverbs, and socio-political realities, she employs satire, symbolism, and abstraction to challenge patriarchal norms and question deeply rooted social beliefs.

Yurtbay’s work often centers on women’s experiences, exploring themes of freedom, resilience, and cultural memory. Her paintings transform everyday narratives into poetic and critical reflections that invite viewers to reconsider accepted customs and power structures. Influenced by her multicultural heritage and extensive travels, she investigates how cultures evolve through migration and exchange.
Her work has been exhibited internationally in Türkiye, Mexico, Austria, and the United Kingdom, and she has participated in artist residencies and workshops in Mexico, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Türkiye. Alongside her artistic practice, Yurtbay has actively contributed to social initiatives supporting girls’ education, refugee communities, and civic engagement. Through her vibrant visual language, she creates thought-provoking works that bridge personal narratives with broader social and cultural discourse.
