Gemma Hansson Carbone (Sweden)

Gemma Hansson Carbone, an Italian-Swedish performer and theater director, embodies a fusion of cultures and artistic prowess cultivated through extensive international training. Her journey spans the theatrical landscapes of Italy, Sweden, and the UK, where she honed her craft in Theater and Stage Arts, leaving an indelible mark on Europe’s avant-garde stages. Collaborating with Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio on groundbreaking productions like “Natura e Origine della Mente” and “Uso Umano di Esseri Umani,” she showcased her versatility and innovative vision. In 2015, Gemma founded Naprawski, a trans-national platform amplifying diverse voices in the arts, illustrating her commitment to fostering collaborative and boundary-pushing artistic endeavors. Her contributions have been recognized with prestigious grants from institutions such as DE.MO./MovinUp and the Swedish National Art Council Konstnärsnamnden, affirming her talent and dedication to the craft. Gemma’s performances have graced renowned venues across Europe, including the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, and the Biennale di Venezia – Teatro dell’Arsenale, captivating audiences with her compelling presence and innovative interpretations. Beyond her theatrical pursuits, Gemma is an accomplished embroiderer, drawing from a lifelong passion instilled in her by her Italian grandmother in Tuscany. Her intricately crafted embroidered pieces reflect her unique artistic voice and have garnered international acclaim, underscoring her ability to transcend mediums and evoke emotion through her artistry. Gemma’s multidimensional artistic journey continues to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide, offering a testament to the transformative power of creativity and cultural exchange.

 

Noam Keim (France)  

Noam Keim (they/them) embodies a rich tapestry of identities as a trauma worker, medicine maker, and flâneur. Born into an Arab Jewish family from Morocco, they began their life journey in Occupied Palestine before relocating to France as an infant. Today, they reside in Philadelphia, USA, on land historically belonging to the Lenni-Lenape people, dedicating themselves to building vital support networks for those impacted by carceral systems. Their literary pursuits are a reflection of their deeply held values, interweaving themes such as reverence for the land, healing, queerness, colonialism, plants, and abolition. As a Lambda Literary ’22 Emerging LGBTQ Voices Fellow, they channel their creativity into self-publishing projects like “The Land is Holy” zine and contributing pieces like “Thinking about na3na3” in Alocasia and “Ima” in Dardishi zine. Their academic journey has been marked by a commitment to holistic learning and social advocacy, earning certifications in Community Herbalism and Trauma-Competent Professionalism, as well as achieving a MA in Anglophone Studies from the University Paris Diderot. Beyond academia, their cultural production extends to grassroots initiatives such as Shareherbs, a collective providing free medicine and educational workshops, and serving as an advisory board member for YallaPunk!, an organization fostering art events for SWANA communities. Their dedication to community empowerment is further evidenced by their involvement in initiatives like Books Through Bars and their residency with Gaky’s Light in Nepal, reflecting a lifelong commitment to social justice, cultural exchange, and community building.
